"Friendship is the only cure for hatred, the only guarantee of peace." -Buddha
I do not believe in a fate that falls on men however they act;
but I do believe in a fate that falls on them unless they act.
In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west;
people create distinctions out of their own minds and then believe them to be true.
It is a man's own mind, not his enemy or foe,
that lures him to evil ways.
It is better to travel well than to arrive.
No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may.
We ourselves must walk the path.
Peace comes from within.
Do not seek it without.
The mind is everything.
What you think you become.
The whole secret of existence is to have no fear.
Never fear what will become of you, depend on no one.
Only the moment you reject all help are you freed.
There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth;
not going all the way, and not starting.
There has to be evil so that good can prove its purity above it.
Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle,
and the life of the candle will not be shortened.
Happiness never decreases by being shared.
To keep the body in good health is a duty...
otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.
To live a pure unselfish life,
one must count nothing as one's own in the midst of abundance.
"In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him.
All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.
All things appear and disappear because of the concurrence of causes and conditions. Nothing ever exists entirely alone; everything is in relation to everything else.
An idea that is developed and put into action is more important than an idea that exists only as an idea.
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it,
no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason
and your own common sense.
Every human being is the author of his own health or disease.
He is able who thinks he is able.

You will not be punished for your anger,
you will be punished by your anger.
A good friend who points out mistakes and imperfections and rebukes evil
is to be respected as if he reveals a secret of hidden treasure.
A wise man, recognizing that the world is but an illusion,
does not act as if it is real, so he escapes the suffering.
Do not believe in anything because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything because it is spoken by many.
Do not believe in anything because it is written in religious books.
Do not believe in anything on the authority of your teachers.
Do not believe in traditions just because they have been handed down.
But after observation and analysis,
when you find that anything agrees with reason
and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all,
then accept it and live up to it.
Friendship is the only cure for hatred, the only guarantee of peace.
The root of ALL suffering is desire.
If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.
Just as a candle cannot burn without fire, men cannot live without a spiritual life.
We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts.
With our thoughts, we make our world.
First, rely on the spirit and meaning of the teachings, not on the words.
Second, rely on the teachings, not on the personality of the teacher.
Third, rely on real wisdom, not superficial interpretation.
And fourth, rely on the essence of your pure Wisdom Mind, not on judgmental perceptions.
Pay no attention to the faults of others, things done or left undone by others.
Consider only what by oneself is done or left undone.
Fools wait for a lucky day but every day is a lucky day for an industrious man.
On life's journey Faith is nourishment,
Virtuous deeds are a shelter,
Wisdom is the light by day and
Right mindfulness is the protection by night.
If a man lives a pure life nothing can destroy him;
If he has conquered greed nothing can limit his freedom.
Speak or act with an impure mind And trouble will follow you.
In this world Hate never yet dispelled hate.
Only love dispels hate.
This is the law, Ancient and inexhaustible.
There is no fire like passion No crime like hatred,
No sorrow like separation, No sickness like hunger,
And no joy like the joy of freedom.
It is better to do nothing than to do what is wrong.
For whatever you do, you do to yourself.
Master your words.
Master your thoughts.
Never allow your body to do harm.
Follow these three roads with purity
And you will find yourself upon the one way,
The way of wisdom.
You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.
